The Story of Debbie Roberts

Debbie's grooming career started because of her little dog Daisy.

When Debbie and Daisy moved into a new neighborhood near Pasadena, California, she didn't know where to get her little dog groomed. Knowing that Daisy could get a little bit nasty with groomers, Debbie knew that it would take a special person to get the job done.

One day a mobile groomer came around the neighborhood, and asked Debbie if she wanted to get Daisy groomed. She did and Daisy was a perfect angel for the new groomer. Debbie realized that it was the one on one attention that Daisy received that made Daisy happy.

Debbie wondered if this was something that she would be good at. She had loved animals her entire life, and always wanted a career with them, but didn't know how. So she asked the groomer if she had any positions open with the company and she did! Debbie began as an assistant, learning all the basics about bathing and brushing, and proper grooming techniques. After one full year of training, she learned how to actually give haircuts. She also learned how to manage difficult dogs and how to have patience with all of them.

Debbie then became the manager of a fleet of grooming vans and it's employees. She was so happy especially since Daisy rode with her every day in the grooming van.

In late 2006 Debbie moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she worked in a shop for a few months. During that time she realized that she loved mobile grooming and needed to get back to it. She was fortunate enough to meet Matt, who was looking to expand his business into grooming.

After several months of hard work, they finally got their van, and Debbie was able to return to what she loves. Daisy still rides in the van each day, her little head blowing in the wind. So if you see the Gopher Mobile Grooming Van roaming around Charlotte, don't hesitate to stop and say hi.

Debbie looks forward to pampering all of the dogs in the Charlotte area.
